Dermal filler treatments prevent and correct signs of aging. They can also be used to subtly enhance and contour individual facial features, such as the lips, chin, cheeks, and nose. The results of the treatment last for 6–18 months; the duration depends on both the filler and the treated area. Filler treatments performed by an experienced professional equipped to handle hyaluronidase are safe.
VM Aesthetics’ dermal filler treatments are performed using FDA-approved Juvéderm hyaluronic acid products. We also use Aliax fillers, which are particularly suitable for people with lidocaine allergies. The fillers we use have a long history of research and product development and a strong safety profile.
Filler treatments address the signs of aging. They can provide support to the tissues, fill in wrinkles, and restore definition to facial features that have lost firmness over time.
Filler treatments are also ideal for enhancing facial features and subtle contouring. Lip augmentation is our most popular filler treatment.
The safety of dermal filler treatments depends not only on high-quality fillers but also on the practitioner’s solid professional expertise.
The risks associated with the treatments are low, but precautions must still be taken. In practice, this means being prepared to administer hyaluronidase.
Hyaluronidase readiness: Hyaluronidase is always available, and the practitioner knows how to administer it—even at short notice, if necessary.

Filler treatments are traditionally priced by the milliliter or by the syringe. However, it’s important to remember that, above all, you’re paying for a treatment performed safely and for a beautiful, long-lasting result.

Sibelius lines are almost always treated with Botox. In this case, however, surgeon Männistö used a filler instead. The forehead is considered a "high-risk area" for filler treatments.
Tear troughs are filled using Juvéderm filler. The procedure uses a blunt cannula, which allows the filler to be safely injected exactly where it is needed.
Dark circles under the eyes and tear troughs running from the inner corner of the eye toward the cheek can affect even young people. Filler treatments can restore volume and radiance to this area.
Minor nose reshaping can also be achieved without surgery. Using small amounts of Juvéderm filler yields excellent results that last for 6–12 months.
For several years now, the trend in lip shaping has been natural elegance. Very few people still seek out overly full lips. These lips were given a subtle shape at Ville’s clinic.
Filler treatments are an effective way to provide support for the facial structures of aging skin. In this photo, nurse Essi Ojala performed a filler treatment for marionette lines on the client.

Filler treatments are suitable for adult women and men. People often seek treatment when their features begin to show signs of loss of volume, fine lines, or sagging skin that can no longer be corrected with medical skincare.
Treatment topics:
If the problem is primarily related to muscle activity (such as expression lines), dermal filler treatment is not usually the first choice; instead, botulinum toxin treatment may be more appropriate.
The planning of filler treatments begins with a relaxed consultation and the planning of any necessary procedure. The injection usually causes minimal discomfort. The sensation is often compared to a pinch. Injecting the filler into the tissue feels mostly like pressure—it doesn’t hurt, but it isn’t particularly pleasant either.
Filler treatments begin with a thorough consultation. You can book a free consultation even while you’re still considering filler treatment. During the consultation, you can ask questions, discuss your goals, and meet our professionals. The consultation also ensures that there are no contraindications for filler treatments (pregnancy, breastfeeding, allergy to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine, age under 18).
A separate consultation visit is not required. We consult with all clients before starting filler treatment in any case, and if it is determined during the consultation that the treatment will not be performed, the visit automatically becomes a free consultation.
If you have not previously undergone any aesthetic treatments, we recommend scheduling a separate consultation. If you are already familiar with aesthetic injection treatments, you can book your appointment directly without any concerns.
Following the consultation, we proceed with the procedure. The skin in the treatment area is cleaned. Most fillers contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic that reduces pain and discomfort associated with the procedure. At Dr. Ville Männistö’s clinic, local anesthesia is also available.
The filler is injected into the target area in small doses using either a needle or a cannula. During the procedure, the area may be gently shaped by hand to ensure that the filler is distributed evenly throughout the tissue and that the features remain natural.
After filler treatments, the skin is cleaned and the injection sites are checked. Small injection marks may remain on the skin. These usually fade quickly.
Swelling and redness often develop in the treated area. Tenderness, firmness, and tightness in the treated area, as well as minor bruising, are also possible. All of these side effects are normal. They are temporary and last from a few days to a couple of weeks.
Unless the swelling bothers you, you can return to your normal routine after the procedure. However, you should avoid touching your face, strenuous exercise, alcohol, and saunas for at least the first 24 hours.
All aftercare instructions are reviewed verbally during the appointment. The client also receives written aftercare instructions.
Filler treatments show results immediately after the procedure: facial features become fuller and fine lines are smoothed out. The final results are visible after 2–4 weeks, once the swelling has subsided and the filler has settled into the tissue.
“With dermal filler treatments, the results are visible immediately, but there may be significant swelling at first. That’s why many people schedule their treatment for the weekend or during their vacation.” Aesthetic nurse Essi Ojala
The effects of filler treatments are always temporary. Typically, the results last 6–18 months, after which the effects begin to gradually fade. This change occurs slowly and gradually.
The duration of the treatment results depends on the product used, the treatment area, and individual factors, such as metabolism.
Treatment results can be maintained by undergoing follow-up treatments as needed, typically 1–2 times a year. With regular maintenance treatments, the results remain good year after year.

Filler treatments are injectable treatments in which hyaluronic acid is injected into the skin. They can be used to plump the skin, smooth out fine lines, and contour facial features.
Filler treatments are used, for example, to reshape the lips, enhance the cheekbones, define the jawline, and reduce and correct fine lines, such as nasolabial folds.
The treatment usually causes mild discomfort. The sensation is often described as a tingling or a feeling of pressure. Most products contain an anesthetic, which makes the treatment very tolerable.
The results are visible immediately after the treatment. The final results are usually assessed 1–2 weeks later, once the swelling has subsided and the filler has settled.
The duration of the results varies depending on the treatment area. On the lips, the effects often last 6–12 months, while on the cheeks and jawline, the results can last 12–24 months.
One treatment session is almost always sufficient. However, the results can be refined and maintained later with individual follow-up treatments.
The most common side effects are swelling, redness, tenderness, and small bruises. The treated area may initially feel slightly tight or uneven. These symptoms are usually temporary.
Swelling typically lasts from a few days to two weeks. Swelling of the lips can be quite severe during the first few days.
Local anesthetics can cause swelling.
Yes, you can. Most people return to their normal daily routine immediately after treatment. However, visible swelling and bruising may affect how you choose to schedule your treatment.
The final results are usually visible after 2–4 weeks, once the swelling has completely subsided and the filler has settled into the tissue.
Yes. If necessary, hyaluronic acid-based fillers can be broken down using the enzyme hyaluronidase.
The natural look depends on the treatment plan as well as the quality and dosage of the filler. When performed with restraint, filler treatments enhance facial features without making the expression look unnatural.
Filler treatments are suitable for adults who want to add volume, smooth out fine lines, or enhance their facial features.
